Tarek Fatah is an author and a weekly columnist for the Toronto Sun. He hosts a weekly Sunday afternoon talk show on Toronto’s CFRB NewsTalk 1010. His book “Chasing a Mirage: The Tragic Illusion of an Islamic State” was runners-up for the prestigious Donner Prize in 2008 while his second book “The Jew is Not My Enemy” won the Helen and Stan Vine Award in 2010.

Born in Pakistan in 1949, Fatah was a leftist student leader in the turbulent days of the late 1960s and 70s when he was twice imprisoned by successive military dictators. In 1977, he was charged with sedition by yet another military regime and barred from being a journalist in the country.

After a ten-year stint in Saudi Arabia as an advertsing executive, Fatah and his family migrated to Canada in 1987 where he has been active in the country’s politics and journalism since his arrival. After 9/11, Fatah founded the Muslim Canadian Congress that has led the fight against Islamism and exposed the designs of the Muslim Brotherhood.

In his own words:

“I am an Indian born in Pakistan, a Punjabi born in Islam; an immigrant in Canada with a Muslim consciousness, grounded in a Marxist youth. I am one of Salman Rushdie’s many Midnight’s Children: we were snatched from the cradle of a great civilization and made permanent refugees, sent in search of an oasis that turned out to be a mirage. I am in pain, a living witness to how dreams of hope and enlightenment can be turned into a nightmare of despair and failure. Promises made to the children of my generation that were never meant to be kept.

Today, the result is a Muslim society lost in the sands of Sinai with no Moses to lead us out, held hostage by hateful pretenders of piety. Our problems are further compounded by a collective denial of the fact that the pain we suffer is caused mostly by self- inflicted wounds, and is not entirely the result of some Zionist conspiracy hatched with the West.

I write as a Muslim whose ancestors were Hindu. My religion, Islam, is rooted in Judaism, while my Punjabi culture is tied to that of the Sikhs. Yet I am told by Islamists that without shedding this multifaceted heritage, if not outrightly rejecting it, I cannot be considered a true Muslim.

Of all the ingredients that make up my complex identity, being Canadian has had the most profound effect on my thinking. It is Canada that propels me to swim upstream to imitate with humility the giants who have ventured into uncharted waters before me. Men like Louis-Joseph Papineau, Tommy Douglas, Pierre Trudeau, and Norman Bethune; women like Agnes Macphail, Rosemary Brown and Nellie McClung. For it is only here in Canada that I can speak out against the hijacking of my faith and the encroaching spectre of a new Islamofascism.”

Tarek is married to his university sweetheart Nargis Tapal and they have two daughters, Natasha and Nazia Fatah.

What in Islam or Pakistan that made him an Indian agent?

Don’t believe anyone. Don’t believe any book.

There is no use of considering a patriot as an agent

        • January 22, 2017 at 10:52 PM

Pakistani muslims call him Indian agent and Indian Muslim say him Pakistani agent. This is the uniformity of Islam. None of the Indian or Pakistani muslims have read the 6 essays
on Islam by famous Urdu poet Dr. Allama Iqbal which advocated the necessity of revision of Islam 100 years ago.

You don’t even deserve any reply to this worthless message that reflects your mind, because you are intellectually bankrupt. So you are not capable of asking a proper question!

Morons can not understand such intellectual facts, and not they have guts to face brutal honesty.

You have no chance to understand anything on this planet, and deserve only darker worlds that you will eventually be, doing what you said above as you can not raise beyond it. Do you even understand this?

Look at yourself, may allah save you.

        Dear Mr Fatah,
You have a very honest opinion on Indian Muslims. What can be done to change their mindset say in next 2 decades (read generation). I live in UK and know indian and pakistani muslims and I can tell you Indian muslims a very different and much open minded and tolerant. They have lived in pluralistic society in India with so many religions all interdependent which is not the case in Pakistan. But still I can see a growing sense of intolerance in Indian muslims in India. You rightly said that Indian muslims ara actually black mailing hindus or govt all the time. How can we change the mindset. How can we teach them that hindus are “pyaar ke Bhooke” (and this is my observations from India and UK for last 2 decades) if you merely speak to them with love they might give you everything.

What I dont understand or able to imagine how can we make Indian muslims more nationalistic “India First” and how can we make them realize that Hindus dont have anything against him generally if they dont do anything against them. Please tell me what us your solution to this problem.

        Kind Regards,

Hello Tarek Sahab, People do misinterpret you. I think you are so intellectual because you’ve roamed around the world a lot and in depth knowledge with logic. You talk about the right things for Islam and Hindu religion and few people (jealous of you) try to pull off your leg. Instead of to understand you, these people wants to be veiled.

      • July 14, 2016 at 2:28 AM

        With Greatest Respect, Sir,

Lot of thanks for revealing the true facts, that’s essential for sustaining global peace. It had not been easy to explore beyond the inherited system of thoughts, but you have put lot of efforts to reveal the facts to promote the basis for humanity. Thanks again.

I am an ill educated person from footpath of India, presently seeking your blessings and support to help the world’s leadership and all leading religious instructors who thirst for a unanimous conclusion for global security in the current predicament of nuclear proliferation, terrorism and war. Our goal is to separate the religious definitions from the mazes of political issues that creating the basis for terrorism and war. Presently terrorism constitutes the worse aspect of those using religious teachings for worldly advantage and private interest. Instead of following religious teachings, they are concealing their crimes against humanity internationally, while at the same time altering the definitions of faith, ethics, and conscience. “Religion is for man and not man for religion.” Humanity must be saved from both the horror of “terrorism” and the panic of “counter terrorism warfare.” Although the words expressing our religious beliefs may be different, the meaning is the same for everyone.

In these circumstances, power of wealth and military power are not great enough for any country, organization, or group engaged in the mission to uproot the basis of terrorism. Rather, the entire world needs an intellectual power to counter the thoughts and views that create the basis of terrorism, religious fanaticism, and religious conflicts that separate the life of humankind. We will have to explore beyond our inherited system of thoughts to uproot the basis of terrorism, without any violence and within the confines of a tight budget. We believe, prevention of war and terrorism would help the world community to pay their deep attention towards the problems that emerging as poverty, Global warming, lethal diseases and pandemic.

Our petition “https://www.change.org/p/define-the-basis-of-moral-education-by-unification-of-all-the-religious-definitions-in-one-notion” requests that the world literate community and members of the “Counter Terrorism Committee” of the United Nations to approach world leaders, noteworthy religious thinkers, and prominent intellectual figures to develop a unanimous resolution to all religious conflicts that are currently causing terrorism and war. To reach this essential and achievable goal, they will have to unify all religious thinking into one universal idea that accords with scientific insight and the history of mankind on earth. The conclusions of this universal system of thought will be expressed not only without disgracing the numerous belief systems of mankind, but also in literary forms in the realms of global scholarship.

There is no doubt that the greatest aspect of literature is that it enthralls our mind and spirit from childhood to the end of our lives. It is a major part of our intellectual heritage, as important as our scientific and technological heritage; it influences our system of thought and throws into relief our genetic nature. It is the treasure house of human wisdom that guides our lives toward whatever final home our religious or spiritual beliefs direct us.

We have designed a simple method in literary form to address the complexities of this issue and support the “Counter Terrorism Committee” of the United Nations. (Please review “http://www.author-me.com/fict15/agilia1.htm” ) I WOULD BE GLAD TO SHARE THE FULL PROPOSAL AND THE SAMPLE COPY OF MY CREATION.

This literary form would help the world literate community not only to raise new hopes, but also develop novel aspirations in working towards a common citizenship of all peoples and faith based on social responsibility and solidarity. This is the greatest contemporary need and the most important issue of current times.

Thanks for the time and review. Looking forward for your blessing and support

        Sincerely Yours
        Ajay Singh

Dear Tarek, firstly I would like to present my special thanks to you because I have been really enlightened through your book, Chasing a Mirage. However, if you accepted criticism which is constructive and helpful, I would like to inform you that there is a mistake in your book in page 21. this mistake is about the number of the verses. In page 21, the page began with the ayeh;”Whoso obeyeth the Apostle, in doing so hath obeyed God, and whoso
turneth away from thee: We have not sent thee to be their keeper
(chapter 4, Sura al-Nisa, verse 83)”. as you see , what is written is verse 83 but it must be chapter 4 verse 80. thanks for your helpful and useful writings and works.. May God be with you.

How can you read any book that is not compiled in the order it was written or revealed? The first words of the Quran revealed to Prophet Muhammad are not the first words of any Quran published today. The last words of the Quran that say “Today I have completed your faith for you,” are not the ast words in your copy of the Quran nor mine. And you defend this wrong collating done nearly 20 years after the Prophet died?

Y are u being so ignorant if u just hate Islam den better change your religion…. Or is it your strategy for publicity that being a Muslim if u hate Islam den yo written scripts may get a boost

            Hi Anees,

I am not responsible for your ignorance or lack of education. Just because you are blind does not mean the rest of the world should also shut their eyes and freeze their brains.

It is Pakistanis like you who have done great damage to the reputation of Muslims essentially being rote learners incapable of reason or rational thinking.

Let me repeat and re-emphasize unambiguously:

“The Quran as it exists today is not compiled in the chronological order in which it was revealed.”

I didn’t get any of my ethics from the contraption you call a country, carved out of an amputated civilization. My ethics come from rational thought and introspection that is rooted in 5,000 years of Indian Civilization that is being raped every day by ‘Pakistanis’ such as you.

My motherland is Hindustan, not a state of mind called ‘Pakistan’ created in the memory of rapists and plunderering invaders such as Bin Qasim, Mahmud Ghazni and Timur who were followed by Abdali and Nader Shah.

Hello Mr Tarek, Same like you born in Pakistan, got my initial education from Karachi, and then for higher studies and for Job move to UK.
I have few things to know about you, if you would like to share, I mean I have some or many issues with Pakistan and its nation, starts from driving on the road till every state dept, but honestly speaking I really love my country. I know in response you might say you true son of soil from Hindustan, you never acknowledge the borders, but still i must say leave the discussion about country forget religion at least remember those lecturers, institute, you house, family.
I apologize in advance but even a Dog faithful to his master, we are human.
lets say or assume the existence of Pakistan, two nation theory every thing untrue, but as a true critic or as you lived in that cosmopolitan, do something for betterment, while live in there or outside, instead u move to india as for citizenship (by the mean its mean you accept borders) mocked Pakistan and its people and you know very well, most of the people are innocent, poor, uneducated victim of terror, victim of bad governance, corrupt politician, unfaithful leader.

Again I apologize if any of my word hurts you

            Tareq Fateh,

You are ignorant enough to understand the reasons behind it.It was all done by the instructions of Allah Tabarak Taala to Muhammed (S.A.W) through Jibraeel A.S.

Sahabas only fulfilled the instructions of Muhammed (S.A.W) that which Sorah needs to place where and it was already done in the life of Muhammed S.A.W

So better to do the work you are doing as it needs both faith and brain.

It was just order changed but the real revelation is not changed so you read the real Quran which does not change its context. Please do not mislead the people. I pray for you that Allah gives you the real sense of understanding. By the way, many non muslims are accepting Islam after reading the Quran.

Fascinating idiocy. So you admit the Quran in its current form is not in the chronological order as it was revealed to The Prophet, yet you are ok reading it in the wrong order because that is what you were told.

Don’t you see the mess Muslims have willingly put themselves in? Reading the Quran like parrots, in the wrong order of revelation and yet boasting that what they do is right. Sad testament to the absence of reason and rational that has become our trademark.

          • December 1, 2016 at 2:04 PM

            Mr. Tarek,
Are you with Prophet Mohamed(P.B.U.H) at the time of Quran Nazool? or you mean to say that Prophet Mohamed (P.B.U.H) didn’t teach his Sahabas well and they didn’t know Quran properly? b/c First Quran compilation was done by Sahabas its self as per the teaching of Prophet and they compile it based on Makkah and Madina time frame as we all know that Probhet early days were in Makkah.

I hope this will clear your doubts.

          • Tarek Fatah
            December 6, 2016 at 6:12 AM

You have no idea what you are talking about Ghazali. The Quran was compiled during the reign of Usman and over 300 copies compiled by the ‘sahaba’ were burnt, with Ali protesting at the incorrect order of the suras. What you have in your hand is the compilation of Abu Sufyan and his Ummayad gang, not the order in which Allah revealed the Quran.

Stop fossilizing your brain. Wake up with reason, not rituals.

There is nothing to support in UN resolution. India/Nehru took the issue to UN. Sheik abdullah said he will finish the Pak’s give a week but Nehru/Mt Batten didnt have the patience.

As for Akhand Bharat – it doesnt have to be a political entity – it can be SAARC- which is akhand bharat

Your views on Pakistan came as a breath of fresh air in an overall vitiated atmosphere that exists withing and around Pakistan. I admire your ability to speak such harsh truths, which are so difficult to accept for a Pakistani because they strike at the root of their basic ideology.

I salute you, Sir, for your intelligence, vision and incredible bravery.

The overpoweringly politically correct media forces in my country (England) would rather accommodate honour killings and creeping Sharia Law (with all its inherent misogyny), than speak out, as you have done, to defend Western traditions and culture.

Please take strength from the fact that all right-minded people are with you, but for various reasons are afraid to voice their true opinions. This is mainly due to the fear of being branded a racist.

With increased exposure, hopefully, your 100% sound arguments will encourage many others to raise their voices against the inexorable Islamification of the West, rather than remain a member of the silent majority.

    You are an inspiration!

    Dear Tarek,

Thank you for the work you do. You are God sent! Can you please write an article about hijabi women police officers and how they would handle rape cases? The vast majority of hijabis, if not all, believe that modesty is imperative for a woman to the degree that they hide their hair. If a woman gets raped wearing a mini what will thy think? What if that woman was drunk too and went home with the man but decided he was too violent and said no but he raped her anyway? Even muslim feminists I admire and respect like Raquel Evita, who is a rare exception for hijabis, boasts about modesty. We still don’t have the right to wear what we want and not be blamed for rape in Canada because we know someone will judge us for sure. What will happen if we have hijabi cops? if you just Google hijabi you can see them ALL ranting about modesty. Canada is a secular country. We need to wake up and realise that before we end up like the Middle East. Please help.

My son’s girlfriend is Armenian, but born in the US. She told me about the terrible situation in Kessab, Syria. When I have tried to find news organization stories on the attacks in the city on Armenian Christians, the only ones that seem to carry it are Armenian newspapers, so I am unsure of what the truth is here. Do you believe that the attackers who have taken the city are Turkish extremists (and supported by Turkey), or do you believe that this is simply more of Syria’s civil war spilling out into the farther regions? I greatly respect your opinions on the Middle East and Islamic extremism, so I was hoping you could share your thoughts on this recent tragic event.

Thank you in advance….keep up the unbiased writing!

    April 1, 2014 at 10:49 PM

    Tarek Sahib,

People like you are very few who have the courage to speak the truth .I think following words of King Bharathari are for people like you. “Worldly wise may condemn or praise , whether the death comes at this very moment or after ages but the righteous people never leave the path of the truth”

I won’t go into discussing about present day India and Pakistan, we all know since their formation 66 years ago there is nothing great we have to show off to the world, or something which we can be proud off . But if we look at ancient India which since the beginning till upto 1800 AD was the richest country on the face of earth. We were in the dreams of the world , westerners were always looking to find ways to reach India. America was discovered while westerners were searching sea route to reach India. So what was in ancient India that it was at the top of the world not only money wise but culturally, educationally. Look at the kind of variety in food , clothes , languages , buildings , vegetation , animals even seasons, geographical diversity . If you look at it then you will find that till now there is no country in the world who can offer such diversity. There is no evidence that ancient India sent troops outside or invaded any country. In the words of Chinese ambassador “India ruled China for 2000 years culturally and morally without sending even a single soldier to China” . If we look at the history of past 3000 years then we see that India was invaded by Alexander, Muslims, Britishers , and other westerners. Still till upto 1800 we were the richest country in the world. Britishers ruled the world for about 200 years and now America with a total history of about 500 years is now ruling and is almost bankrupt. Albert Einstein says that “No scientific progress would have been possible had India not given the decimal system” . So think about it that how great our ancestors were that since the beginning of the universe till 1800 AD India was the top of the world country and in past 66 after splitting how bad the situation is , we top the list of the most corrupt countries and daily bomb blasts and religious intolerance has become our way of life.
About 3000 years ago in India we had no Hindusim, the present day hinduism is deterioration of the Vedic System which was there since the begining. In past 3000 years we have so many religions in India hinduism, budhism, jainism, muslims , christians, sikhism and so many high profile Gurus and fakirs but noone could stop the fall of India. Can we fix a problem if we don’t know the root cause of it ? We must need to find out what happened in India 5000 years ago that led to its deterioration that till now its not stopping and we have reached this present state. Swami Dayananda Saraswati the great sage of 18th century has written that when a country has too much luxuries of all sort then the people of that country becomes lazy and the downward journey of that country starts. The Mahabharat war which happened 5000 years ago was a result of these excesses and after the war the systems which were holding the society collapsed . The political as well as education system of the country started its downward journey. This is a vast topic so will write about it later.

      November 18, 2016 at 3:21 AM

      Dear Mr. Riyaz,

Boy, such venom against a fellow muslim, and that towards the one who professes to be an adherent of Islam, no less: But, isn’t it typical of muslims to resort to violence at the slightest provocation? But, before a reasoned criticism, by Tarek, of the illegitimacy of the formation of a “democratic” state for the “muslims,” adherent of Islam? Wait, the muslims and the Democracy, would such concepts ever go together? Don’t you see the contradiction in terms? The Irony? Well, that is just beyond the pale. If Tarek has taken the trouble of pointing out to you in his well researched book, how absurd and unworkable the Sharia laws are then either you may refute his assertions by rebutting it by propounding powerful evidence to the contrary, or admit to being shown the sensible way of looking at things, and a Thanks as a token of gratitude would suffice.

Well, didn’t the creation of such an entity, out of the rich tapestry of such a diverse peoples as the vast India is, and has always been, not delegitimized those muslims that chose to remain? Secondly, didn’t the concept of Pakistan become rather a moot one, overnight, after the formation of yet another state out of what was to be an end all and be all Islamic state, as muslims claimed brotherhood and oneness with one another, into yet another entity to form State of Bangladesh? You’ve got to be joking me! Never ceases to amaze me that Mrs. Gandhi fell for it back in 1971, and further prolonged the inevitable, the unification of all those spare parts that came loose way back in 1947.

Evidently, the claims of Islam as a unifying phenomenon to an eventual pan-Islamic Caliphate turned out to be nothing but a hoax among the you lot of believers, and went subordinated to the ethnic purity. We are fist Punjabis, Balouch, Sindhi, and Pathan! Or, as the song had it in the Punjabi language, “ussie Sindhi, Bengali, Pathan, Balouch putthay ussie putter-punjab dey paniandey.” I picture me dancing the break-dance. Wow! Together.

And purest of the pure, the Arabs hate you after over a millennium of the inter-mingling with the blood of the African slaves, you’d be hard pressed to find a trace of African surviving it’s all mixed in; he looks at himself as way too superior to you lot out of self loathing. and, insists on calling you El-Miskeen. They won’t accept you inside their concept of the word “Ummah”, the believers, They, the Arabs make the poster child of the utter Jahiliya, they can’t even manufacture a pair of scissors, not even a sewing pin factory to be found in Arabia-every thing is imported. They are not wealthy, they are a very poor lot all they have is oil by a dint of dumb luck. The minute oil becomes irrelevant, which is quiet conceivable if you maintain any faith in the Materials Engineers, the minute the transition to being desert bedouin becomes a reality once more, no more funding mosques/madrassas to brain wash the illiterate and unwashed recent converts of the Indian subcontinent or in Boise Idaho, my current residence where Pakistanis live as if they have never left home no doubt segregating genders by observing the abominable perda. Mr. Riyaz you go ahead ingratiating yourself like a good Miskeen”, rub your forehead at their feet, for he surely feels your pain most keenly. Go ahead grow beard, but sport no mustache like a good Salafist.

All Tarek is doing and has ever done is to pointing out the bastardly origins of the formation of this cobbled together out of disparate five entities or so into joining the monstrosity that has since survived in the form of West-Pakistan of 1947, and still threatening to further disintegrate into at least three further entities leaving in escense perhaps the quintessence a tiny ethnically pure Punjabistan. You may choose to add any such sobriquets as Purblindistan, Absurdistan, Balderdashistan,, etc., etc.. We must not allow this vanity of stroking the landed elites to continue, in their quest to self-aggrandize, loot the national treasury, foreign aid from the west, and above all milk the masses of illiterates and the know-nots (that includes you Mr. Riyaz, you make for the Poster Child.) Pakistan is a pariah cum failed state. It must not exist; furthermore it hasn’t the basis.

There are thorny issues in Islam that are going un-addrssed and have gone on un-addressed for upwards of five-hundred years to thousand years, depending on whom you choose to sight. Jinnah was interested only in seeking glory to have founded something; a legacy, almost single handedly delivered a “nation”. Are you kidding me? The Rhinoceros in the china-shop, namely Islam, went ignored. He was too dumb to see how clashing these two terms are: Islam and the Jumbhuriath (the Democracy). The future generations will sort it all out; such existential complexities, or not. Of course not Jinnah’s problem, after such a bloody birth the two-headed monstrosity went reeling, one in the East and the other, surviving, in the West, it would take decades; and it was sure to surface and now manifesting. Reeling were we: with three millions dead, butchered, countless many raped on both sides (Jinnah was entirely willing to incur such a nightmare, or was he so naive, un acquainted with man’s capacities? I leave you to decide.) For a long time people must have wondered, in Lahore and elsewhere: Whom among his or her neighbors has their hands bloodied in that grizzly business of free for all murderous orgies that went on? Not in my neighborhood,no way. As soon as I’d turned eighteen, I flew out; January 15, 1975. Here I come Montreal, La Belle Province Canada. I saw things, loveliness juxtaposed to the barrenness of the make believe hollow world of the believers. I rescue me from myself: “Young man go west”, in chorus sang the angels how ever faint I heard their lovely sweet honey drenched melody calling.

Facts are what they are: bald and irrefutable; but you may be entitled to your opinions, we grant you those. Since the Rhino does not make any distinction between the realm of Caesar’s (i.e.,Politics) and the realm of God’s (i.e.,what one hopes to discover after kicking the bucket, an all merciful God.) Until such time….Oh there sure to come such a time when we in unison and with our quivering lips kiss the hands of The fellows of Christendom and thank them for finally coming through to us that we needed to separate the politics from religion. And make Jesus’ teaching our own. Unfortunately we are not there yet… a few of us, Tarek included, are trying to hasten that day’s arrival, when muslims, too, finally will have come to join the civilized world and do what we do best…talk/converse and participate in building, which is much much harder than blowing things up: The stuff that we weave societies with?
      Like a work of art.

It’s time we acquaint ourselves to secular: Yes, I admit readily, currently in the west secular has become the be all and the end all, and religion resides in the out-house; furthermore Government has become the new God, dispenser of care and the goodies. Some wise man (no doubt must be a hindu) has suggested that the whole populations have been nationalized. I don’t blame the peoples outside the west to be leery of the secular: Pornography addictions, broken homes, high divorce rates, high percentages of births out of wedlock, drug abuse, dependency on welfare, just to name a few on top of anyone’s list. The pernicious affect of having lost an healthy balance between the secular and the spiritual we falter and are currently engaged in a state of soul searching correction. The academics will tell you this is due to the built in tension between the Jerusalem strand and the Greek strand that form the basis of the western civilization; at times pendulum swings in favor of one side at the expanse of the other or vice versa. The reform will come from U.S. for we have a solid Constitution, a written one at that, we can’t stray far, we have the mechanisms written in, such as the enumerated powers and soon we shall pair the government down to size. In the classical Liberal tradition government is not allowed positive roles that comes strictly under the civil society’s domain. We shall restore government back into its box to perform only the negative duties. Over the past hundred years or so we became enamored with giving government extra Constitutional role in the tradition of that abominable, poisonous, and heathen philosophy of Marxism/Leninism/Socialism/Communism with their materialistic assumptions and led stray generations of people away fro religion. But, the good news is that we have begun to see the folly of all secular at the expense of religion and begun correcting the course. i remain an optimist, no doubt a father of three teenagers.

We must also acknowledge that we are also undergoing in a transitional period; from one epoch to another, i.e., from and Industrial Age to the Age of Information Technology, the IT revolution. The existing legacy firms that enjoy huge market shares have bought the politicians in an effort to perpetuating themselves by way of crony-capitalism ad absurdum cum ad infinitum which has been a tremendous drag on growth, resulting in stagnation of western economies. People have begun to see that governments are the problem: The Brexit vote has been a reminder; a breath of fresh air toward the direction of more accountable government, and the vote for Donald Trump here in U.S. remains a wild card, that very well might go toward fixing the problem of un-wieldy big-government. Consider the example I sight as the leading indicators by the general populace against the intrenched interests of the existing businesses who have thus far been quite successful in prevented competition from challenging their grubby rent seeking enterprises by getting governments to collude in getting themselves regulated as monopolies; in effect smothering our economies in order to prevent regeneration and the ever healthy creative destruction to take place. This is how all too intrusive administrative states the western democracies have become, and people are beginning to smarten up to the unholy alliance between the presumptuous corporate elites and their enabling polls.

Mr, Riyaz your desire to commit the heinous act of immolating a fellow muslim is utterly horrible. You ought to be ashamed of yourself. I suggest you should read Tarek’s excellent book, Chasing a Mirage, and then I’m sure you’ll come away with nothing but admiration and respect for the ma, and regret ever writing such horrible things.

Wow! Such an anger! such a hostility! such a burning desire to burn someone alive!

Could we know why? It can’t be our mother India.

Both of my parents were born in south India and migrated to Pakistan in 1949. All of our great leaders and Muslim Akabareens were born and died in India. So what is wrong to be an Indian Muslim?

I do disagree with some of Tarek Fatah point of views and I will try to argue in a civil manner should I choose to do so. Threatening or become hostile means that we don’t have a good counter argument or a better narrative to explain our position. If this is the case we should stay quite not make ourselves and our great religion a laughing stock.

When we resort to violence it means, we are insecure or we feel threatened by the argument. If we think our believes are far superior then others, we follow a true religion of one supreme all knowing God, then why showing hostility? Why not show some compassion.

If our God Almighty is a true supreme being as we believe He is, then why not we leave all the matters for Him to take care of. Isn’t He the most powerful of all?

I think as a Muslim, we should stay away from being playing God and punishing others based how we believe the truth is or based on our perceived facts.

Remember, it is the same God who created all the diversity among us, variety of religions, cultures, colors, languages, shapes and sizes. Look at the nature and realize that He loves variety.

So regardless, we are Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, Christian, Jew or anything else for that matter, we are all His creation.

Being a Muslim we should be open-minded, tolerant and embracing all point of views. If we know better, we should be making our argument in a decent and civil manner while respecting other person’s right to accept or reject it.

We need to come out of our inner insecurities and be brave, be bold, be respectful of others and engage in constructive dialogues and grow as human.

Love all the creation of God! Love India, Love Pakistan, Love Canada, Love USA, Love the planet earth.

      Learn to Live in Peace!

Hi Tarik: When I heard about the vandalism and graffiti perpetrated against a mosque in Cold Lake, Alberta, my first thought was, “it will be caught on camera”. Then, when I learned that the Mosque camera “wasn’t working” when the spray-paint defacing and window-breaking occurred, I became suspicious.

Even more suspicious, when I later viewed the graffiti on the Mosque front, I found it very odd that it said, “CANADA” along with, “GO HOME”. Why would a bigot spray paint “CANADA” on the mosque? This makes no sense, whatsoever, the bigot knows he is in Canada.

Conversely, it makes more sense that the vandalism was staged, and, “CANADA” was added for easy identification (to smear Canada and Canadians around the world on U-tube as Islamophobic).

The real message is “when Canadian soldiers are killed by Islamic extremists, it’s Muslims who are the victims.” Victimhood is a big part of the Muslim narrative.

I am not saying for certain the Cold Lake incident was staged, but there are many examples Muslims spreading false rumours or having staged acts. Here is one recently perpetrated in New York City, falsely accusing the police of Muslim profiling and brutality.

And is a recent example of how an operating camera identifies a bigot, as the example in NYC of hate graffiti against a Jewish school:

Tell me what you think of my observations regarding the “Cold Lake Mosque vandalism story”.

A religion is a body of thought in the final analysis. And doe it not opt for decadence by dcreeing against perpetual renewal and rejuvnation by disallowing honest questioning and debate?

Islam is there to last don’t worry, Islam started from Mecca and now every city on earth has Muslims. You guys actually need to worry about your religion 🙂

          January 7, 2017 at 6:08 AM

Your ambitious plan will fall and with it u will fall.
To all muslim brothers , read carefully.
          there is no paradise.
If you think I am lying I will give you proof.
quran says that paradise will be the perfect place where you get all wishes fulfilled and there is no sadness and sorrow. but happiness cannot exist without sorrow and sadness.
for example on earth, you don’t have car and you wish for a car.
If a bicycle is given to u, u will become sad but if I give you a Ferrari then ur happiness will increase to 100 times.
The happiness is dependent on the sadness that has taken over u.
          Now think
          1. A cycle is very common and everyone have and many don’t want it. so it makes you sad.
          2. Ferrari – very few people have and having it give you a social status and impression
          3. but if u have Hyundai car than it is generally with middle class people.
But in paradise everyone will have Ferrari, Lamborghini and every fast car. ~ so question is ~ does it make you happy and how long you going to be happy. one day you will get bored. first there is sadness of not having a car but having a Ferrari car will make you happiness. hence telling that there will be no sorrow in paradise is a lie.
So paradise is not a real place but a temptation .
          Hence Proved
          Any questions

The manner in which you present historical facts coherently to support your viewpoint is a testament to your scientific mind. Tarek Sb,

With all due respect I need to know why many people from Poor Countries fled away from their Homeland and after getting settled they make their career in bashing their own roots. I mean 1000 years ago when English crown was setup in somebody’s land and they expanded to all over the world. Now because they illegally captured Canada but you will not write because you know nobody want to listen your song. Leaders are always those who take a Nation from Point A to Point B not like you who just built there Career with Paki or Muslim Bashing.

    Good Luck.

You are pussy not to speak and take responsibility of you people.

Dont Think that your religion will die because of Mr Tarek but he the radical and stupid ideas have to go and respect for each faith will come.
now every one will expose the lies woven around your eyes that has made you blind.
Don’t think that we are attacking muslims.

It’s a time for a RENAISSANCE in Islam.

I am an atheist, it’s very informative to read your books.
I feel Islam was constituted as the most individualistic religion but it became the most collective one.
I don’t know much about Islam though, but I know one thing, “without being human, no one can be a ‘muslim’.”
    I say it as,
“There are so many muslims, but we need ‘Muhammed-ans’.

Why ask the respected sir for a solution to the Kashmir problem? It is in our hearts. It does not belong to Pakistan, to give it to Pakistan or to even allow Pakistan to participate in the future of Kashmir on the Indian side of LOC.
      1. India should categorically state there will be no more discussion of Kashmir with Pak.
      2. Start serious development in Kashmir.
      3. Prevent further Police/Military atrocities that will alienate residents there, enough damage has been done.
      4. Fortify the border, increase intelligence in POK, try and keep insurgency under control.
      5. To give this beautiful land to liars and hoodlums and ISI gives more place for a tyrannical country to mount tyranny from.
The list goes on, I hope Tarek sir will give more reasons to close the chapter on Kashmir once and for all.

Mr Fatah, I rarely have the pleasure of hearing someone as passionate (on YouTube mostly), knowledgeable and bold as you. So salute to you sir! Your views on most things including religion and Pakistan are spot on and I can identify with most of what you say being myself somewhat of a multiheritage individual as a British born and bred, left-leaning Sindhi with Indian and Pakistani ancestry (and yes my ancestors would have been Hindus, even if they did subsequently convert to Islam, and with me taking it to its logical conclusion by becoming an atheist, as I tell my children, believing in fairy tales as a child is acceptable but not as a sane adult!). Please do let me know when you are next speaking in London as I will definitely like to attend. You are most probably already familiar with them but perhaps you may want to cast your eye over the work that Quilliam Foundation which is undertaking the mammoth task of intellectually taking on the Islamists. Good day to you sir

    Hello Sir,
I have been following your views in text and video media. I thank you for educating the common man about the depths of the thinking. Now I am facing a problem. I have ran out watching all of your videos and gone thru all the latest news items about you. I have also ran out going thru MJ Akbar’s stories 🙂

Can you suggest few people who write in the same depth as you do and I can go thru them too !

Its seldom that people with speak and write in such a depth with the critical reasoning approach. Its the day well made for me. I feel intellectually satisfied bur then “Yeh dil still maange more”

    Enlighten me !

    Wish you good health

PS: I love your cartoon of angry old man on top left side of your website.

Sir I was going through your video, I was a goan nationalist in my college days where i bought in many lies, as you talk about the state of pak I find similarities abate not so intense but many similarities with the Goan politics that we are more of Luso Identity etc. Further I am now branded as communal cause I believe that india isnt a state formed in 1947 but our identity is based on civilization, I always argue with my blood brothers that faith is for personal spiritual practice and our identity is that were are Rajput Maratha warriors irrespective of our faith we will always be Desai (thou this might sound casteist ).

    Tarek Bhai,

In one of your videos, you say that to get out of the present mess, there needs to be another Mahatma Gandhi to facilitate the change needed in the subcontinent. I submit that you are that change agent; its only a matter of you graciously accepting that responsibility and people will follow.

I further like to emphasize that you do not belong to Islam or any nation or any community. You belong to all of humanity. Words can not express my praise for what you have done. Unfortunately, human beings appreciate great souls after they have left this worldly abode, but that is the way of this world.

    Hi Tarek Sir,
I am an Indian residing in the UK.I have been following you since last few months. You have tremendous knowledge about the history of India. Being born in Pakistan i am really surprised the way you can see the real picture of whats happening around us.
I admire the way you confront all the arguments which are based on man made version of Islam. Which most of the people believe to be the real version. I always use to think that if this is the true teaching of Islam than where is the Peace aspect.
But after listening to you it has brought in a lot of clarity of whats happening around the world.
Thanks for being there to support the right reason.

    HI Sir,
I am a great fan of yours and included many of your thoughts in my upcoming book. I have one difference of opinion with you. In one of your interviews, you said Indians hate Bangladeshis because they are dark-skinned and Pakistanis are better-placed in that respect because they are fair. There is an ill-feeling against Bangladeshis. It has nothing to do with colour of the skin. Bangladeshis infiltrate in large numbers and in many places changed the demographic profile of that region. Even in my home state of Kerala, you can find them in large numbers. Many of them work as carriers of fake currency from Pakistan.

And having read your background and story I feel like somehow I am imitating you given the kind of work you began during your teenage, from Karachi University which I am attending at the moment. But of course, it’s not the place as it used to be, neither is this city in fact, as I’ve read about it so far. I’m not interested in bothering that anyway. Very much like yourself I have also learnt that I have been lied to, and I’ve quite learnt enough to have a mature understanding of history, especially the one of my tribe called Sindh.
And if you’re reading this, I’d like to know if you’re interested in sharing a piece on your website which I wrote sometime ago about this paradoxical shithole called Pakistan and collecting as much information as I could, I mention its double standards, contribution to the global terrorism and its links with the jihadist outfits. I’m sure you would like it.

    Tarek ji

I believe I have learned more about Indianism from you than most Indians. I do not agree with everything you have to say but to see that someone of Pakistani birth (it is a matter of geography, IMHO India would be proud to have a son like you) has the gumption to confront many on the lies and false propaganda spread by the ISI and speak the truth about jihad. I see that in this comments section there are many ardent fans of yours and I have to join their ranks since I have no distinction due to which I can stand out. However, I have made a lot of my Indian friends (here in the US) watch your videos and sometimes we watch you and Zaid Hamid alternately since we need a comic break in between material that makes us think and discuss. I wish that they would let you have a televised debate with Lal Topee or Dr. Zakir Naik and many of us have extrapolated where such debates would go over many cups of tea and desi snacks.

Being from a refugee Bengali family, I find that you state the truth about Bangladesh very frankly. It is sad that many in Bangladesh today are ardent Pakistan followers and would rather follow Arabic customs than those embedded in the sub-continent. While you have seen the urban Bangladeshi population minutely swerve towards a more tolerant and secular mindset, I can assure you that the deep-rooted radicalism I have seen in the hordes of Bangladeshi families that migrated to Bombay for work was there to stay. We grew up among these shifting hordes in the 90s and I am witness to many an instance where a girl in her teenage would be forcibly married off to some 50 year old.

Beherhaal, I wish there was some way to get to know you personally. I follow your twitter feed and watch many of your videos on YouTube.

I sincerely hope that no bodily harm comes to you as you continue to fearlessly say it as it should be said. There are very few like you – Tasleema Nasreen is one of them. I cannot explain it but I cannot seem to offend my Muslim friends by saying things that you do on their faces. You are very right in that aspect, it is the desi Muslim who has to take on the onus of reforming the way Islam has come to be perceived and radicalized – but who will do that if the average Bangladeshi strives to become more Arab? When will the Indonesian brand of Islam come to Bengal?

Is that debate with Dr. Naik on the cards?

    Best regards
    Your ardent follower

    Dear Sir,

Today in India we talk about intolerance and a communication gap in Hindus and Muslims, but if I look at the recent history (freedom struggle), I see the educated Muslims those days always tried to find issues of their own and start movements of their own (Aligarh, Khilafat, etc), always trying to create a different identity.

Similarly we see today many Muslim leaders talking about common Muslim agenda. Are they real issues for average Muslim or just an old habit to look different from an average Indian.

If you are so against Islam I suggest convert to a religion which ever you like follow them Allah said follow the God who is eternal, cannot be compared to anyone, and alone, even Allah isn’t forcing humans to follow him in whichever god u find this qualities then follow tat God tat religion…

And one more thing as u state you are secular actually you are fake a secular person never speaks Ill about any country or any religion or any race but you do I suggest instead of being so shamefull about Islam n being Muslim why don’t you call yourself an atheist…

Does not matter you are right or wrong your facts are straight or not (which I think are Radicals don’t have courage to accept it). In your biography you claim you are leftist. Sir I am pointing out that Marxism and Islam are mirror image or twins. Both are against freedom of expression and basic human rights . Both of them are chasing a mirage or Utopian dream. both of them perpetuate violence against non believers. Both of them caused untold miseries on human kind. At last both of them kill their own believers. Both of them promote fascism and dictators. so if you are speaking against Islam then you should speak against the communism and their atrocities also

    Mr. Fatah,

Re: Your Article of Wednesday, September 14, 2016 in the Calgary Sun Resembling Apo Ocalan to Mandela

How dare you compare or even remotely resemble the Great Mandela to a two-bit, killer and rapist, Marxist-Leninist Ocalan..

Get your facts right Mr. Fahad. You must have had some sort of an issue with a Turk or Pakistani Muslim in the past to burn with such obvious fury at them.. This is not objective reporting by any stretch of the imagination. Good, honest and professional reporting requires facts and morality which you seem to lack unfortunately.

Nelson Mandela was an educated man. He was one of the greatest men of the twentieth century admired by all nations. He embodied the characteristics and principles espoused by the Prophet Muhammad. Mandela fought for the justice and liberty of his people in the twentieth century; and eventually led South Africa out of the apartheid era and into a multicultural, diverse and democratic state, which gave rights and dignity to everyone. He was tortured and incarcerated in prison for 27 years for being anti-apartheid. When he was finally released from prison in 1990, he did not seek revenge; instead he sought reconciliation. He NEVER deviated from his path nor, “begged his capturers to spare his life” even in the face of torture or death..

Ocalan, a school drop out, started as a Mao sympathiser first, then became infatuated by the Marxist Leninist extreme left platform without the benefit of an in-depth understanding of any of these ideologies. He is a self-proclaimed killer and rapist.

Have you ever listened to Ocalan in any of his several “taped” interviews? You probably never researched Ocalan, did you?? If you did, you would have known that he cannot even put two legible grammatically correct sentences together in Turkish (don’t look for English anyway..).

He freely admits that he has authorised the execution of many hundreds of people including civilians and dissident PKK members..

One of PKK’s own ex-leaders has said “there were 50-60 executions after a Congress and we had no room to bury them”…

Ocalan is a rapist… He is a sex-maniac.. He forced young female comrades to immoral relations and ordered the execution of those who refused to have sex with him. I have seen Ocalan’s tape in which he personally comments about how he gets the young women around him “excited” (!!). Check his interview on the Internet if you do not believe me.. Be a true reporter for a change not a “bought-pen” please.

The so-called HERO, that you are comparing to Great Mandela, is a power-hungry, illiterate, rapist and worst yet, a proven COWARD.

He is such a fearless leader in front of unarmed civilians and babies… But, when his pants are down around his ankles, and he is no longer carrying a gun, he is not so brave..

In 1999 Öcalan was apprehended in Kenya and taken back to Turkey. He was tried and sentenced to death for treason and sedition. On the day he was sentenced he was kept in a bulletproof glass case during the trial.

He pleaded for a chance to make peace with the Turkish government. Your “Hero” said at the end of his trial…. “If permission is granted, I say I can bring down all the men from the mountains within three months,”

He urged the court to spare his life, saying he can help bring and end to the conflict between Turkey and its Kurdish minority.

“For peace and brotherhood, I am ready to serve the Turkish state, and I believe that for this end I must remain alive,” Ocalan said.

Is this is the kind of fearless, brave leader you want us to emulate Mr. Fahad?
Shame on you for comparing a thug, rapist, killer of his own people, a great big nobody to Great Mandela.

    Dear Sir,

Your words are Music to certain Hindu fundamentalist, Born in Pakistan you must have had similar views on India that other Pakistanis usually have, I wonder what changed your opinion so profound, it must be really traumatic. You also seems to carry away by your emotions. I am sure there are decent pakistanis who love and respect India but still proud of being Pakistani and you seem to hurt there feelings.

Remember as an Indian we need healthy relationship with Pakistan and we are not interested in breaking them apart or destabilizing them, it is unfortunate that only few dictators control Pakistan and you are right in highlighting those issues. However you should remember some of the statements may have unintended consequences which may lead to loss of innocent lives.

you also have responsibility that comes with your recent fame in India.

    The time has come.
You are reincornation of “Bhakta Prhahalad “of Bhagavat Puran of ancient Hinduism.
Now your task is to see that ” Islam for all and all for Islam”.
You have illustrated in your book ” Chasing of Mirage” ,how The Quran was corrupted by various men during course of time.
It is your destiny to re write the present Quran by deleting currupt part and by adding missed parts of true religion.
The Quran written by you will be called the Quran part 2 or The New Quran.
It is similar to the part 2 of the Bible or new testement of Bible.
The new Quran is such that it will be acceptable to all.
That is by Hindu , Christian, Buddhist ,General muslim, etc.
It will represent purified Islam .
    Islam for all

Sir, it is largely due to the efforts of people like you the real face Pakistan is getting exposed. Thanks to you. I also take my hats off to your day-in-and-day-out efforts and your courage, to share this information with the rest of the world when you could have very well lead a cozy and comfortable retired life in Canada.

It is not surprising for me to see (in hindsight) why my history books did teach us give us the real history. The only possible reason I can think of is the ruling party (Congress) did not want to tell the public about the mishandling, misgovernance and incompetence of their founding fathers.

People like me who were born post-independence were not aware of the intricacies. It only come to light because of social media. Schools didn’t teach it as the curriculum did not have it. The curriculum was obviously regulated by the government. There is no culture of research oriented study in India so it is almost impossible for students to learn about it on their own. As a result, the entire generation of post-independence born Indian kids lost the opportunity to know what happened. What has stuck around is the anti-muslim sentiment and the post-war bitterness after the wars fought between the nations. The conniving nature of Jinnah, the role of the Pakistan army (in annexing the princely states), the naivety or the incompetence of Indian political leadership is large unknown. What is taught is largely the greatness of these people!

A question; why does the western world find it so difficult to understand Pakistan?

      dear sarang
Truth is relative . I know the truth on my perception . You know the truth on your perception . But the great man like Tarek Fatah can only know greater truth. many historian like Romilla Thapar have discussed such issues. so one need not believe on face of it . he/she has every right to question understand and agree or not agree.

      • Asif
        November 11, 2016 at 2:56 AM

        Mr. Garwad,

With all due respect I must vehemently disagree with you in that assertion of yours that truth is relative and therefore can only be subjective, This notion is quite commonly held, and I must say, even rampant among the cognoscenti, who should know better.

No Sir, the truth can be had: it is the basis in sciences, like James Clark Maxwell’s four equations that describe the electromagnetic nature of our universe; Newton’s Laws of Motion; Carnot’s engine, etc.. Since Einstein’s Theory of Relativity, it has been imported wrongly into all the other sciences to declare, in effect, that everything is relative; it has had so pernicious an effect on the larger society that one is frowned upon if one takes a dim view of sexually prurient behavior. They say, “Why, what is the matter with him? That may not be his view, but it’s certainly my truth, I shall covet my neighbor’s Mercedes Benz”, and moreover, “What is it to him?” And soon the very fragile fabric of our civil society is in tatters.

I fully agree with Mr. Sarang, for I too was born (full nine years) after the Partition, in Karachi, Pakistan. I too was fed a very one-sided propaganda about the greatness and purity of the Pakistan’s cause and its mission. I was well into my thirties when I came to appreciate the true nature and evil intents on both side of the borders. But I judge rather harshly the Pakistanis, for it’s the true incarnate of evil itself. I saw on the first hand basis, Pakistan Army’s butchery perpetrated against the fellow Pakistanis before they became a separate muslim entity of Bangladeshis. Hell, my very father who was stationed in the port city of Chittagong during the fateful years of 1969 to 1971, whom I did not see until well into 1973, a further period of two more years; if he hadn’t cultivated loving ties with the local Bengali families perhaps he would have been slain by the Mukti Bahini forces who were looking to exact revenge with the west Pakistanis. My poor father got caught in the struggle of poor Bengali citizens to free themselves from the subjugation of the dominant Punjabis, to this day, who rule everything, though they may be sixty percent, but they, what I mean to say by they is the very rich, powerful, the connected, and the strong, not the poor peasants of Punjab, toiling the land as sharecroppers upon some big (Zamindar’s) landlord’s estate, they are controlling the lyon’s share of everything. From all the businesses they get their cut. Pakistan is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Armed Forces and the poor peasants are kept riled up against the Hindu, Hindu vitriol is kept as a live wire by the help of Religious parties in conjunction with a little help from the uneducated if barely literate popular media who are quite exquisitely susceptible like any run of the mill your average muscleman who’s been weaned in the “education/govt, bureaucracy”, to fabrications and outright lies. I can go on ad infinitum but Mr. Sarang, you are right. Nehru and his criminal daughter Indra should never get any credit from the future generations of India, for keeping the most enterprising people as proven world over in poverty; causing misery, food-shortages, famines well into the sixties. It was Mr. Manmohan Singh, who for the first time since the Independence brought the refreshing free market capitalism, where individuals make their decisions and thus market forces are unleashed that no “experts” can guide anywhere but to misery. That is an objective truth: Free market enterprise and the capitalism works and its opposite command and control economy does not, and over time is destined to loose. You may take this to be the gargantuan truth from a very little man to the bank any time. I thank you. Good Luck.

    • Asif
      November 10, 2016 at 9:54 PM

      Dear Arbor, S.,

Here, does not the rub lie: In Islam, the deafening silence one hears, which you have characterized as “has provided no guidance.” And precisely what Jesus Christ has given to the Christendom, His greatest gift: mentioned in the synoptic gospels, “Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and unto God the things that are God’s” This is how west became the best and the rest must adopt, learn, copy or emulate it in order to overcome being a part of the rest. You see, sooner we get over this notion that Islam is the Mukummul Zabitah-i-Hyath, completely and utterly the perfect way of life, with that emphatic certitude that all is spelled out to you, ’tis in there; well, then what you have is beheadings, stoning to death of wayward ladies with appetites, and lots of amputees among other absolutely crippled with illiteracy searching for the meaning of a bi-cammeral legislature. There will never be any efforts made in the direction of formulating any or a way most amicable to exist with each other in a civil community of citizens here on earth in the temporal realm.

I am afraid to tell you this, that Islam needs a new class of Ibn Sinas, scholarly men (I speak in a gender neutral sense of the word) to wrestle with Qur’an with the tools of philosophy, gained from the classical pagan civilization of Greece, that the man was so fond of roughly a thousand years or so ago, to expound, chew it all out, make sense of it all, and make us understand how to read in-between the lines, that may not be readily visible to the unlettered, the untutored, and unwashed masses.

So anyone, say you what? Agree? Disagree?

    Salaam Tarek Fatah,

I have listen to some of your interviews in Indian media recently, very interesting and sharp no wonder you have many admirers for your talks.
You are a believer but as per your own understanding, logic and arguments, which I respect as your right of freedom given by your Creator.

I understand also the frustration and criticism you have for all religious radicals but primarily for radical Muslims and ignorant Maulavi and silent Muslims of almost all era of muslim history, beginning just after prophet’s demise from this world. As a fact almost all of human history has share in such things.

Seems when Muslims are not listening to wise sincere voices like Javed Ahmad Ghamidi, someone like you hammering them so they listen especially their clergy, maulavi sahab and brainwashed intellectuals. Have you ever meet mr Ghamidi, now in Malaysia.

I watched his videos in India. I thought I should give him a benefit of doubt and try to understand his point of view for some of the points he raises are worth the consideration. But not too far into his speeches in India, I found him to be speaking “The Indian Political Narration”. That’s when red flags were raised in my mind.

This guy is not impartial. His criticism of Pakistan is COMPLETELY rubbish. No balanced view. He talks about what Congress, RSS, BJB and Narendar modi have been saying. These people want one uniform code in India in a society which is NOT only multi-ethnic but multi-religious. They also want the “Shuddi” of Muslims (a very fundamentalist idea). They had persecuted the non-Hindus during the period leading upto 1939 (when all minorities celebrated day of deliverance).

I am a Pakistani and I am proud of my Pakistani and Muslim heritage. I am proud of my Pakistani Dress, my Mothertongue Urdu, my country’s regional languages, my religious attire and so forth. I am a Muslim and Muslims are one nation. We are also the sons of the soil and are proud of our ethnicity BUT I am not HINDU. I may be Indian by race but I will NOT go to the point as to disown my Islamic identity. I am not a bigot and am progressive. I move forward. Urdu is a language that has adopted many foreign word. I won’t be a bigot to remove all these words from my dictionary and leave all the Hindustani vocabulary.

    Dear Tarek,

And many thanks for all you do to prod and instigate the dull mass of muslim obstinacy to remaining moribund in ignorance- the Jahiliya. By shedding the much needed light at the area of darkness of our sub-continent’s converted-muslim population do we have hope of ever reforming toward a more enlightened, dynamic and a thriving culture. A society in which everyone lives out a life that is rich and meaningful. But, I am not so sanguine of such a development anytime soon, I’m afraid still more blood has to be spilled of the believers. Still more grinding out over many generations has to be endured; in the cosmic scale, what is a mere five-hundred years of the dark ages? The jolt it requires is far greater to shake us from this perennial believe that Islam offers “The Perfect Way of Life”: It is just so! Would the word of God need improvement? Are you mad? That would be bid’eth, meaning additions, very bad indeed, no can do; can’t have that, goes against all of our instincts, and against our grain. So we stagnate in the perpetual morass, beating up each other silly, in this stassis-no way out. Thus in islam knowledge can never be had, the concept of free will does not exist: It’s all been written and so shall it be. What ‘s the point of studying? Philosophy, Logic that the pagan Greek bequeathed the west and Hindu sages to the Brahmins? Among the muslims of the sub-continent we have lost respect for education and knowledge, obscurantism rules, it has set in.

Isn’t it typical of the converted peoples every where to forsake their very own culture, very own tradition, and very own history for the adopted? For us muslims what matters is that the calendar began at the year 1 at the time of Hijra, some 1400 years ago in the desert of Saudi Arabia; and their conquests have become ours. Classical and the ancients times is just a blur, we neither care nor desire the fascinating human journey over the malenia, lest we glean something valuable toward reforming the present from the wisdom gained. I’ll never know what the fascination is in listening to versus sung in foreign language without comprehending the meanings of those words?

Someone wise had once said that belief alone is not enough, it has to be buttressed with knowledge and wisdom. I am confident with your efforts, one day soon it would bear fruits, of at least dispelling the notion that Pakistan should prevail or remain a distinct entity for the muslims, when muslims remaining in India far outnumber those that find themselves trapped in the barbarism of the bearded sans mustache wahabbi/salafists . Both the Eastern and the Western, dismembered limbs, shall one day reunite with the eternal mother India. I so look forward to this eventuality, after all what is seventy or so odd years in comparison with India’s five thousand years. Jai Hind!

Like you I too am an Indian only Pakistani by the accident of birth, which I did correct by emigrating to U.S.A., post 1971, the country of my choosing. Viva U.S. A. Jai Ho!

I meant ‘if people DO NOT pay attention to your theory, we will see a Donald Trump in every non-Muslim majority country.’ Sorry about the typo. Hope you can edit my original post.

    Dear Tarek,

In an effort to contact your brother, Mahmoud, through you, two weeks ago I wrote you at your Pinterest profile. Perhaps, you are not expecting any mail there or not finding spare time to visit your profile so finally, I have decided to mention my desire to get in touch with your brother to you at your very blog. You probably don’t know me, I grew up with Mahmoud, all through high school we both progressed together, in the same neighborhood of Nazimambad #2. In 1975, I left home for Montreal, Canada to continue further studies, and subsequently in 1979 came to settle in the U.S., and now reside in Boise, Idaho via Los Angeles, Calif.. I’d appreciate your help, if you’d please pass my info to your brother, I’m sure he’d love to hear from me; I’m sure I’d be thrilled to hear from him. I have so much to share: Births, deaths, weddings, other friends in common…milestones, etc., etc.. If God’s willing, in five years hence I’ll be 65 years of age, same as Mahmoud I’m sure, a senior citizen-Wow! I find it hard to imagine that once we ever were so young?

I have been following you for some time now with great interest. I congratulate you for being such a great source of inspiration to so many and also for proving to be such a nasty thorn on the sides of the obnoxious, pungent, and the virulent Islamist types, in an effort to dislodge the long festering callous/scab on the body Islam, and in particular the converts of the sub-continent’s, who might be susceptible to reforming, at least I have not yet abandoned all hope. Congratulations also for writing the much needed and timely two books, I’m sure they will prove to be of tremendous help to our fellows if they ever get around to igniting a reading culture. Thank you for all that you do on behalf of those muslims who would like to see Wahabbi/Salafists sects chased out of the main stream of Islam, only to be relegated as an obscure increasingly diminishing fringe zealots, in an effort to rescue the muslims from their ongoing cultural catastrophe. Thank you, may God always keeps you and your family under His blessings.

    To Mr. Tarek Fatah,

    My dear Sir,

First I must say that I very much admire your calm and reasoned dialogue. Reading most of the mail on this page I am often surprised at the blinkered view of so many. Personally I have no god to look up to. I live a very calm, and fulfilled life without the need.

I have also lived and worked in Pakistan. Installing Microwave communication for the Railways.

The last 30 years of my technical working life was contracting to the European Space Agency. There I learned something about our planet, our solar system, our Galaxy and the Universe.

We are a very tiny and insignificant planet, on the scale of the Universe. Our vast Solar System is very small and insignificant by this standard. The distances between our own planets are vast by our own standards.

Uranus and Neptune would take us years to travel to. With present chemical propulsion systems it would take us THOUSANDS of years to reach our nearest star complex, that is Alpha Centauri/Proxima. Only 4 Light Years away from our own star – The Sun.

Yet our tiny, insignificant little solar system is just one of BILLIONS more in our own Galaxy which we call the Milky Way. Scientists have calculated that there are approximately 300 to 400 BILLION more stars in the Milky way. Some are a thousand times bigger than our own SUN. Which is in itself just another star.

We have 8 planets orbiting the Sun, and Earth has liquid water and life abounds.

Astrophysicists are in no doubt that all other stars have orbiting planets. It is the way that stars are created from the gaseous clouds of debris left over from stars that have already died and exploded. The chances are that some of these planets will orbit in the so called Goldilocks zone. That is not too close to their Sun and not to far away. Then liquid water can exist and possibly life too. Perhaps even intelligent life. Hopefully more intelligent that us on Earth.

So far with the use of very powerful Space bourn telescopes like the Hubble, we have discovered more than 2,000 of these planets that might sustain life and we have only scratched the surface of the 3 to 4 Hundred BILLION stars in our own Galaxy. Such a scale makes us very small indeed.

We now know that our Galaxy, the Milky Way is only ONE small Galaxy of countless BILLIONs of others in the Universe. We don’t even know how big the Universe is let alone how many other Galaxies there are. The ones that we can observe are sometimes infinitely bigger than our own.
Containing infinitely more stars, with infinitely more orbiting planets.

The object of this lesson is to establish our size and position in the Universe. Microscopic.

Now, who or whatsoever created this wonderful inconceivably vast universe is irrelevant. What I have difficulty with is WHY in heavens name would He/She/It shrink down to human dimensions and decide, ‘I am going to visit that tiny insignificant spec of dust and make a being in my own image.’ Was the creator lonely.?

According to ancient writings He walked in the breeze of the garden of Eden. Why would a GOD need to feel a breeze? He just created a Universe! He made a man without effort. But WHY would he need to put The Adam to sleep and remove a rib to create a woman.? He just made Mountains, Seas, Flowers, Trees, Animals, Dinosaurs, yet he needed Adam’s Rib?

Would The Adam and his woman have been created as adults?

Or were they created as babies.? If so who suckled them, nurtured them, instructed them?

Did they not enjoy a mother’s love? Was God’s love sufficient for their needs?

Or did God have a hitherto unmentioned wife, sister, female companion.?

Who instructed them on the act of procreation.? That would have made interesting reading in Genesis. I could go on for pages with my reasons for doubt in any god that takes an interest in the control of the human mind. It is very clear to me that ALL religions are man made. For the benefit of man. It gives him power and allows him to exercise control over those he considers unworthy.

I believe that pious religious men are basically afraid of woman, because women can see through their pathetic aspirations to rule, to be in control. We all know that given the chance women are just as capable as men in all things and even better than men in many things. Religious men just don’t want to give women the opportunity of proving it.

By accident of birth, I was not born in a Muslim land, nor a Hindu, nor Buddhist, nor Catholic or Jewish. If I were, then I would probably believe what my parents and schools taught me,that MY religion was the REAL one! No need to apply my own mind to work it out for myself.

I implore all of you to THINK for yourselves and don’t be slaves to indoctrination.

I am content to die and rot in the ground, for my energy to be returned to this wonderful planet that I have been privileged to live on.
May your many gods grant you all peace. There has not been much evidence of that prayer being answered these past few millennia.

    Sincerely Roy Selwo
(P.S. I await the anticipated, ill conceived hate mail.)

      Dear Tarek,

I have been mulling over this peculiar piece, a “letter” of grave concern over your God-fearing correspondents in which I include myself, from Mr. Selwo ever since it fist appeared on your Blog. Initially I’d thought of ignoring this convoluted screed as a typical left wing muddled headed thinking, but then again it also offered such an enticing opportunity for busting open such a low hanging absolutely pulsating piñata that yours truly could not refuse to bashing it to smithereens. For I have both laughed and cried, intermittently, at the man’s audacity of copping an attitude of intolerance toward the people of faith. Call him a kind of a Taliban of the atheist? One might, but I don’t think Mr. Selwo can be accused of having any of such deep convictions, I don’t think he is having any. G K. Chesterton had once remarked, “When men stop believing in God, they don’t believe in nothing; they believe in anything.”

It appears what Mr.Selwo has here, in his screed, is yet another case of the typical basic human hubris on full display: to bite something more than one can chew; for all to see that is essentially borne out of profound ignorance of western tradition in general and in particular the rich tradition of Philosophy where the European Doctors have developed over melenia a rich panoply of thought that has engendered such lofty development in the fields of Sciences, Technology, and as well in the Liberal Arts to name just a few categories which has enabled mankind to develop such a ravishing culture of beauty; progress, the dignity of human being evermore to elevate, forever onward, forward and better the human condition, all over the world.

And yet, what Mr. Selwo has come to represent is the last whimper of a cry of the dying materialist prejudice of the Marxist/Communist/Socialist creed that has pervaded the west since the middle of the 19th century; nay cri de coeur, that has left mankind wanting more from their life, that this life has a purpose that we anticipate an audience with our Creator, our Maker, Him. No one can prove this. The realm of poetry and philosophy for the edification of the mankind. Science does not go there, for it’s beyond its scope or purview to test or to formulate hypothesis for such is faith. With all due respect, it’s their in the available civilizational literature information that the Western tradition runs through two strands, one of faith (Judaeo Christen of Jerusalem) and the other of reason (from Athens, the Greeks); that the pendulum swings between these two strands, the tension is there; some times one is in ascendence and at times the other.

Before accusing most of us as being of blinkered in our vision, single mindedness in adherence to our cherished faiths, as if from a lofty platform up on high above the clouds, above us all, where he perch with such condescension would it not behove on his part to offer something more substantial? “Die and rot in the ground…” He has his indoctrination, one that is of meaninglessness and purposelessness; and he denounces our desire to lead a fulfilling, productive, and meaningful life and live through our children in future. We go forth multiplying and perpetuating that has always been so and ever will be, our Origins and our Purpose.

“Have a passion Sir.”, would be my advice to your correspondent and, ” Have a care,… don’t be so condescending toward us believers,” The Nature won’t disrobe and share all its mysteries to the scientists if they no longer believe in its Creator. From Plato on down to Gallaleo, Newton, Michael Faraday, James Clark Maxwell, Einstein in a growing list of scientists that are having breakthroughs daily by setting aside the materialists prejudice and affirming the Great Designer’s presence behind this absolutely Fantastic Creation. I suggest to Mr. Selwo a more deeper and wider reading of the literature of the western civilization. Thank you and may God bless us all.

    Mr Tarek Fatah

I m ur big fan, but I m worrying about you. I want to meet you at only single time in my life. But I m afraid that how will I face u, because u are a left extremist and Marxist n communist. I m a follower of right wing as a BJPist, but not too extremist, I m just a Indian culture lover, n I have only one choice. Bjp. so in current scenario we are so called as communal. I hate these so called secularists n leftist. I have read many book written by left hand, I know Mr. S c Bose was a leftist, but in now days patriotism is not in picture with in left wings of India. I know communism n Maoism are imported theories, like shams Khan instead of suraj Khan. General perception is that warrior of friend circle (comrade) , who stands against right wing extremist and predetermined rituals, thoughts and believe. They may be heroes of right wing like raja ram Mohan Roy, day Anand saraswati and m j Akbar. But they may be Villen also, if they stand against moral culture and soft believes. I think a liberal right wing follower , who accept positive , logical n rational changes without auto pilot mode, is a good human wing., But I will be highly obliged and glad to meet you. By heart, I really want permanent indian citizenship for you. Hence u are a great indian by soul. Munjhe lagega ki mai apni maa Sindhu aur raavie see Mila hu. Thank you boss.

  153. January 3, 2017 at 11:06 AM

I think the greatest contribution you could make at this point in your life is to produce two volumes of scholarly research into the original version of Islam, and the history of how it was hijacked.
Volume 1 = original concepts of freedom and love and tolerance as envisioned by Mohammed from his Mecca (not Medina) period. You could start with the current corrupted version f the Quran and excise the Medina suras (which are clearly identified).
Volume 2 = History of Islam, including the political intrigue and infighting among self-professed muslims (Quraishis, etc) seeking to establish their dominion, when the Hadiths were written, and how Sharia “law” came into being as a means to control the ignorant public, etc etc.

    Dear Tarek Ji,

It is so very comforting to know that intellectuals and positive thinking Muslims like you still exist in this world. The Islamic world has a lot of catching up to do owing to the wide gaps that exist today between what is being practiced in Islam vs where the civilized world is headed. It really annoys me to see the nasty comments on this page from primitive folks, mostly Muslim who refuse to absorb useful inputs but instead keep their heads buried in the sand while the world around them moves miles ahead. I wish there were several more Muslims like you in India and the world around. Thanks so much for everything you do.Request you to please keep this going.God bless you.

Tarek Ji, You are so right about Pakistan and Bangladesh. These are the two limbs in their relationship to Mother India the main body housing the heart, brain, lungs and all other critical functioning. The ‘Partition’ of India is like a car accident where India lost both its limbs. Pakistan is that limb which lost its blood supply from the main and has now rotted and decayed to an irreversible state. Bangladesh on the other hand is the limb that with special surgery (help from Indian doctors) was in a way re-attached to India..blood supply restored and on its way to healing. However this healing will be quick provided infections bacterial & viral (Jihadis & killer Mullahs) are kept away.
Looking back today, getting rid of that bad limb (Pakistan) was a wise decision otherwise the whole body would have decayed. The Bangladeshis got lucky too though many radicals there dont realize it. Hope we can attach the Balochi limb in the open socket on the Indian body where the dirty paki limb once was 🙂

Tareke Sir I am a big fan of yours. lots of love and blessings for you. Really your voice roars like a Lion.
One video I saw where you takes about sufi saints who are seeker of truth and you mentioned that their dance is just entertainment form but u fail to see the truth in their dance.
Especially the whirling dance is ana mazing display of truth without the words which no saint has been able to do it by actions.
When sufi whirl at one place, they see something inside of them that don’t move at all. It is the center of the being that remains untouched by the movements of body, even the emothions, thoughts and desires. That is the truth.
One mystic used this dance movement to display to its audience.
He would play music and the performer will whirl and dance. But suddenly the music is stopped and all the performers stop at one place in complete Statue form. Thai is what touches the core of us. the audience would feel the effect but cant explain what really happened.
The sudden stop make our mind to stop at once for the abrupt change in dance movement. THE MIND had build a momentum of thoughts and emotions on seeing the beautiful dance but the moment it stopped, the mind stopped too for a moment and in thai moment they saw the truth.

I hope you get slight idea of what the dance depicts.

      February 5, 2017 at 3:04 AM

Here I go again, same old show again
Why do you and I talk pass each other?

      Dear Mr. Qureshi,

It’s beyond preposterous, the assertion that Islam is the religion of peace; Such a notion, anyone with a rudimentary knowledge can dispel in a paragraph or two. Especially since the Umayyad Dynasty’s hijacking of Islam, which was almost immediate, after dispatching the holy Prophet’s immediate family, beginning with the murder of Ali, his son-in-law, and soon thereafter the ensuing horror of Karbala masacre which put paid to the rest of the holy Prophet’s progeny, and thereby giving birth to the Shia Sect. Once again to remind you, the three of the first four great Caliphs were murdered, while in office, and to this day we haven’t figured out the concept of peaceful succession, go figure.

It has been a grizzly tradition, of a very long standing with the followers of Islam, to engage in the conquest-business by sheer bruit force and aggression. How else Islam would have progressed? Ask yourself this question, by their superior civilization? Fine Arts? The literature? Philosophy? No, no, no, no, and no on all accounts. But, Oh Yes, plunder, rape, destruction, slavery, all for booty. So damn crazy, those firkin towel-heads of yore that have beaten you to being basket cases and sodomized you for centuries that you have forgotten your very length and breadth, your North and South, limping as you are Sir., with a hobble. The Arab has given us Indians good and hard, over a very long time and you want more? For starters, give up your thick, high viscosity Araby name for a Dilip, Harish, Rajesh, or Govind according to your true ancestral heritage , assuming that is, if you do consider yourself to be an Indian by ethnicity.

What Indian muslim “needs to know” is that Islam has been suffering under the spell of the Dark Ages for the last six hundred years at least. We are a laughing stock out here in the west, I avoid muslims as one would Herpes: Keeping themselves quarantined within themselves as if they have never left India or Pakistan; and their women particularly, segregated, and outdoors never to be seen without covers as in those abominable burkas, Niqabs, or abayas, You are wrong, Islamic laws and rules whatever they may be, a common muslim fool will cary our the grizzly act of dispatching you to the other world the moment it has been found out that you are a proselyte, say to Christianity. Barbarism is our destiny; why so? In a word, Jahiliya.

“Faith in love and fraternity,” you say. Those are mushy-log big words the terrorists would have hard time spelling. Just go to YouTube and type in the following bellicose lyrics of the piss-ass warriors of Pakistan and experience for your edification how muslims truly whip themselves into frenzy for spilling Hindu blood in an unprovoked war of 1965:

      1. Jaag raha hai Pakistan…
      2. Aay Watan Kay Sajeelay Jawano

There is another good one in Punjabi, where the song accuses Indian Army solders as effeminate cowards that I couldn’t locate, perhaps Tarek could help in this matter or any of his many fans. So, suffice it to say Islam is in a desperate way to introduce reforms and get rid of its many ill-conceived notions begining with Jihad. What nonsense! It is the most fundamental and the most basic principal that one should have the right to freedom of conscience; the ability to accept or reject religion at will and there ought never to be any compulsion in either direction. It is preposterous for any man to assume the place of an arbiter or a judge to decide when one is committing “big sin in the eyes of Allah” or may be “it’s a [ ] heliic sin”. You should have absolutely no occasion to go righteous on behalf of God if anyone decides to leave the faith of Islam to become an atheist or anything else. Please, get this: “It ain’t any of your business” one should worry over their own particular salvation and not feel obliged to be a hired gun or a cutthroat on His behalf. For trust you me, He is God, the Omnipotent, needs no help from the likes of blind Jahiliya.

So give it up, Sunshine and quit saying asinine platitudes. What the poor Indian muslims need is good comprehensive education: that which is very broad based (Liberal Arts). Faith alone at the expense of all else has been our besetting sin that’s why we continue to make the poster child of the Jahiliya for some time now, and please no more platitudes of “religion of peace”, the world has had it up to their eyeballs, and the world upon this is now quite resolute. it needs no more convincing:The stasis, the fetid stagnation days are over, and hello sunshine, the light is finally being cast-shown. Good luck. and God bless

      Dear Dev Bose,

Vert true, in what you have said in your analysis of the affects of Tarek’s endeavors in shaking the muslim world of India to break-free from the spell cast by the un-holy mullahs who have kept the muslims ignorant in order to maintain their hegemony and monopoly in all matters spiritual. And understandably so, an average Mullah is no more educated than a Pan-walla, only thing that separates Mowlana from a Pan-walla is that Mullah is well versed in Quran, a one trick pony, the disadvantage in specialization is that you begin to discover everything in one narrow field that eventually dwindle down to zero. So Mullah is really quite bankrupt outside his very narrow discipline of only Islam. I’m not sure a mullah knowing much of anything in terms of comparative religion, as Islam vis-a-vis Judaism, or Islam vis-a-vis Hinduism, or Christianity, or Zoroastrians, or Greek Orthodox, etc, etc.. I would argue he is at once a man to be pitied and to be feared for he is Jahil, one who is ignorant of his own ignorance, which makes him rather simultaneously a very dangerous and scary fellow.

What Tarek is engaged with in my book is both heroic and yes, I hate to say it, very stupid. For you’d never know how these fanatics would react given their combustible nature fueled by the fervor of Islam, jungjuielog and all. Or, Tarek would say in his usual customary way, “Those tuttyloge ghutpaindway, blah, blah, blah, they are chicken-shit: Yea keyah fight karaingay!” Truly Tarek is doing God’s work, I’m sure he’ll be remembered for all his efforts toward rescuing the Indian muslims from ignominy and oblivion.

What I wanted to say to you is that there are muslims like me who very much want to just get along and live out our lives peaceably with fellow mankind; with good humor as citizens, as neighbors, as mates, as friends, as amicably as humanly possible with absolutely no axe to grind. Who feel fortified by Tarek’s stance and his energy to deliver plain truth with panache, verve, and vigor. I don’t know what percent of our kind is represented in the overall muslim population, but I like to think we are a significant number. I go even a few steps further and say, “Hindu is my brother, friend, and my ancestors”. Yes, I am proud of my Hindu heritage.

That is the concomitant effect of Tarek Fatah, that has brought about in the heart of a muslim toward hindus: Our bonds of humanity above all else have gained new strength.

Let us shake hands and kick some Mullah ass! How’s that for the sweetener? Good luck and God bless. Let’s stay in touch, friend.

Hello Mr. Fatah. I saw almost all the interviews and speeches of yours on youtube and tv channels, in which you speak fearlessly about Islam and terrorism, history of Islam, Historical figures of Islam, The Quraan, India and the Muslim invaders who came to India and so many other controversial and ‘dangerous’ topics. I am sure you have so many haters. They threatens you and your family on Internet or by the other mediums. How do you deal with that? How do you take that criticism? Well I know your answer 🙂 You’ll say ‘I am in my 60’s, I don’t care. I will play on front foot.’ That’s good but what about your family? what they say and how do they react on such threats given by your haters?

I would like to mention that I’m reading your book “the tragic illusion of an Islamic state”. I just want to say…. BRAVO….

    Dear Fatah Saheb,
I watched your program “Fatah Ka Fatwa” in Zee news channel today. It was amazing. You are putting very important points forward and discussing. This is dire need to Indian society to bring all women on main stream and participate in the development. Muslim women population is big and due to restriction in name of religion, these women are not able to participate in the development of the country. It is just like man working hours loss to the economy. I really feel very happy and proud when I see a woman driving a car in my home town. They have big potential and would be very useful for the nation especially Muslim women who are deprived with rights. Inshallah you get fateh in your objective. We are with you sir. All the best.

    Dear Tarek Sahib
    I am from Pakistan.
May Allah give you a prosperous life, and help you in your efforts. I believe what you are doing or have done so far, with your amazing oratory skills, no Pakistani could have dared or even dreamed of it.
You have exposed Muslims and their distorted history. Thanks again for your hard work for rekindling the hatred amongst Hindus and Muslims, that we in Pakistan always thought as a concept of a bygone era in secular India (supposedly). You have really helped the undersigned that Muslims should be treated as enemies in the land of Gandhiji. Keep up the good work, keep spreading the hatred. Rawalpindi should be thankful for your commendable job.
    Best Regards

I have posted an appropriate reply to your cynical response to Tarek’s efforts toward getting the muslim community of India to scrutinize itself and see some of their glaring faults so that they can be amended or at least suppressed for the overall betterment and an enlightened life for the majority of its citizenry with the majority hindu, at the top of his blog’s current page by an error on my part. I would like you to see at least a response, who knows you might get a kick out of it. Thank you.

    Dear Mr\Ms
I previously contacted you, unfortunately, until now I do not get any support from any place in Canada to start me issue. Most of the emails that I sent or should be received prevented by government in St. John’s, NL. I sent to many organization , prime minister as the same.
I am a graduate student in Memorial University. My status in Canada is refugee. I was renting on 57 Suvla street, A1C4Z5, NL. “ Landlady’s name is Janice”
-On December 29, 2016, I called the police and reported a crime about the landlady recorded videos to me in my bedroom and living room.
-The police officer came without doing anything or registered my evidences from my background to become a refugee in Canada. I claimed them to investigate who were behind her, and they said “ we will investigate “.
I told them, In 2011, Saudi Arabia tried to recruit me against my country Yemen. When the war started in 2015 until now, Saudi Arabia sent me and to others many orders to stop writing against the war. May be Saudi Arabia behind all of this story to threaten me to stop writing or to obey their order against my country by the recorded videos, and I have evidences from my file in CIC to become a refugee in Canada, and I have many evidences Saudi Arabia follows Yemeni writers and threaten them by different ways or killing them.
I am waiting the RNC to call me as they said to proof all the evidences, but nothing happened.
-The landlady gave me a notice on Dec 30, to leave the house during 15 days in spite that I paid to the end of the month, and against the law that the time for a notice to leave 3 months.
-On Jan 14, 2017, the police officers came to give me order to leave the house, and her rights to throw all my stuff on the street, I told them showed me the order of the landlord court.
-On Jan 15, 2017, the landlady threw all my stuff on the street . And I do not know what are stolen or damaged. I called the police and called friend to tell the media to come to record what happened to me, where are my rights, when the police did not investigate about the recorded videos or registered any word or evidences, to tell Canada where is the rights of tenant.
-the police arrested me without state one word from my rights, and without I was doing anything just because I wanted to speak to media.
    – the police hit me, twisted my right hand very strong, tight their handcuff very strongly that injured my hands, and took me to the mental health care section 17(1).
    – I claimed them to speak to a lawyer from the human rights they refused, but they called legal aid as they said after 10:00pm. I spoke to their lawyer. And I did not know who I spoke on the phone a real lawyer or their friend, because she did not appear.
    – I claimed them to go to doctor to prove about all injures by handcuff and my right hand I cannot rise and pain me too much but they refused.

    – I inquired the police about my stuff, certificates , and some of my jewellery….. everything I had that were on the street or may be the landlady stolen them, but no one cared. Lastly, one policewoman said you stuff in the storage, and the other one said no.
    – I requested my laptop to solve my assignment and project and submit them , on the beginning they refused , when I said I would judge them if I failed and lost my scholarship.

In the hospital: they sized me for 3 days.

    – On December 16, 2016, the police offecers took me to the health science hospital as a mental illness.
In the hospital, the nurse showed me the name of my family doctor, but I did not have any family doctor. The police faked the name of my family doctor to fill what they wanted.
    – I requested a lawyer from human rights for 2 days. The nurses said “we called them, and the lawyer will come at any moment.”
Then they said no one called any lawyer, and allowed me to call them, and I registered 2 messages, but no one answered. I do not have money to call any private lawyer.
    – In the hospital, they did not let me sleep every 15 minutes they made up for three days
    – For 3 days, I requested my clothes to change, but they refused to give me my stuff, and one nurse said “ she called the police , and the police told he the stuff still on the street.”
    – I requested a towel , tooth paste, brush , they did not care.
    – the third day they gave a paper to tell me what is the mental health, when I read the reason about why they put me in the hospital as a criminal,
they wrote “ Ameenah is a mental disorder, and Ameenah thinks Saudi Arabia threaten her and put a camera to recorded videos, without care about all the evidences and official papers to become a refugee in Canada , and without investigation about the landlady.
    – In the hospital, I requested them to let me go they refused. I told them I would go, but the nurses said we would ask the guards to return you.
One nurse told me, I sign on the certificate to become a volunteer patient in the hospital , (I have not sign any paper)

    – I was starving no good food , and in the fourth day they did not give me my breakfast, when I requested my meal, on 11:30 am , one nurse gave me a rotten apple

    – On December 18, after I sent an email to Prime minster in Canada and different websites, somebody came to the hospital , and they let me go.
I rented in the hotel for 17 days, after I rent a room. Since February 2 nd, I sent many emails, called, and on Feb 6 and 8 , I went to RNC to report about my stuff that thrown. And I do not know if my stuff in the storage of the police, or in the garbage, or with the landlady.
    – I wrote a list for all my stuff ( clothes, jewellery, priceless certificates from 4 countries, gadget, food … everything person has) that was in my bedroom and in the house.
-For two weeks, I tried to report a crime about threw all my stuff on the street and may be they are now in the garbage, but the police officers refused and said your stuff still with the landlady.
My stuff were thrown for days on the street, and I want to prove to the court what are missed, what are damaged, what are stolen, but the police officers refused to write a report.
    New events:
-And the sudden thing, when I requested the file number of the report of recorded videos, the police officers deleted the report as nothing happened.
Why the police officers deleted the report?
Why the police officers refused to register the report about my stuff that are stolen and damaged?
Why the police fake evidences and trying to prove I am mental illness
All of these behaviours are the evidences about who are behind the recorded videos to me in my bedroom and living room.
Who asked to delete the report is the same person who behind landlady to recorded videos
I need your support, what kind of support you can offer me.
I applied to legal aid to charge the landlady, RNC, and the hospital.
    Thank you

    Dear Mr. Fatah,

I am your follower and usually watch your debates and TV programs. I have been following your views and discourses since quite a while now.

Thanks for coming to India and thanks for holding up a mirror to Indian society and hypocrites at large. Appreciated.

The days of decent debates on TAG TV and Rawal TV with Tahir Gora and Baland Iqbal seems like a distant memory.

I have a suggestion, can we have Tahir Gora, Baland Iqbal and Barrister Hamid Bashani in India and can we have a joint front created with like minded individuals in India for once at least. I am sure this is possible and I am sure this is the need of the hour and the day.

I have of late been networking and trying my little bit to ‘right’ the intellectual discourse in this country by creating a coalition of like minded Indian intellectuals and media personalities in particular. Especially people who have the ability to change the ‘discourse’ by enlightening the populace of India and beyond by presenting its history the way it is, without the so called Leftist ‘whitewash’.

I live and work in Pune and am a small entrepreneur. I may not have money I surely have the will to join the movement of truth and honesty in the Indian media and presenting facts as the way they are.

I would sincerely wish to connect with your on your Email, maybe speak with you over your phone.

    Thanks and regards.

    Keep up your good work.

You were all over TV and media following 2001. And then you disappeared.

That was until I discovered WHAT you have been up to over the past few years. I admire what you are doing in India. Change has to come from within the community and you have taken the charge to bring about.

I like your format of bringing social workers and the mullah folks in one forum. This exposes not only the ills of conservatism, but also the good work of the social leaders.

Respected Tarekji, I am a lady who has realized there’s an urgent need to know and understand our own culture thoroughly, before pointing an accusative finger to any other individual. I read most of the comments here, some very unfortunate ones, those who do not realize that you are a humanist and not fascist; they are blinded by their own faith on ‘ignorant’ interpretation of Islam. Like one of your admirers on this forum, I too believe your words have opened up our eyes about our Culture and this has in turn, ignited a sense of nationhood among all. My family is an ardent fan of yours &.we remain glued to your TV show Fatah ki Fatwa which has even become an incentive to stay home.
Our prayers and goodwill must protect you from all evil designs. I am Indian, a Hindu, ur supporter.

    Dear Sir,

With due respect, I would like to introduce myself. First of all, I am your good fan and have been so just a couple of month ago, I have been following you on Utube daily for the past two or three months, and I like every discussion. I see that almost on every discussion or meeting people do not wantingly agree with you or do not want to learn why you have said what you say.

I do not know much about Islam or Muslim religion. I was born in the year 1944, my father was a hindu sindhi and my mother a Muslim from Persia, we are four brothers I am the eldest a commercial artist by profession, an unemployed due to my age, I have a passion for learning, which keeps me glued to my computer.

My two brothers follow Muslim religion while myself and my third brother follow my father’s religion. My second brother who follows Muslim religion very firmly and is a very good human being tried for many years to convert us, but I didn’t on the ground that if we did then we will loose our father once and for all.
One thing about my brother that he has never lied in his life and never missed a namaz, no matter what, and he has not missed a roza,

My father is no more and mother is very old and sick. We were born in Bombay but are settled down in Chennai now, all the brothers are married and with children, I am sorry if I have taken much of your time, just wanted to talk to you that all. thank you, All my best wishes to you.

Mr. Fatah, I hope you are doing well. While I respect your beliefs, I agree Pakistan is suffering from many elements of corruption, terrorism, and what not, but why is it so hard for you to sympathize with those that are innocent, and suffering in Pakistan and want a better country? I do agree that the Punjabi Elite is imposing many unfair harsh policies and treating other individuals of other ethnic groups unfairly, I as a Pakstani Punjabi myself want equality for all Pakistanis, may ethnicity be damned, Pakistan belongs to Hindus, Christians, Sikhs, Balochis, Sindhis, just as much as it does to everyone else, and these are the secular ideals under which Jinnah desired to Pakistan to operate (watch his independence day speech if you don’t believe me), but this could not come to fruition due to the introduction of the Islamic Republic in the 50’s which I agree was a mistake.

I just want to let you know there are good and bad people everywhere. Every society has its bad apples, including both India and Pakistan, Muslims and Hindus, Christians and Sikhs. That doesn’t mean you can hold a whole group or country or religion accountable. Many Pakistanis don’t fascinate about Ghazwa e Hind as you assume or hate Hindus, and want peace and friendship with India, but our leaders don’t desire that. I live in the USA and have many Indian friends, and we know that the divide is due to politics and media. If you speak out against the corrupt elements in Pakistan, I am totally okay with that. But also be an advocate for what changes you want to see in Pakistan and how you want her to improve. We can’t undo past wounds of our predecessors, but we can move forth and suggest and implement practical approaches to problems. Something is better than nothing, and hopefully over time we shall make progress.

Because my thought is exactly matching yours but I am not as brave as your are, I think you are the bravest man on earth. You know how bloggers been being killed in Bangladesh.
I like your idea of being a reformer in the Muslim Society while you are a Muslim too. All over the world in Muslim society the religious education system is completely wrong.I heard three types of Muslims in our society based on their knowledge
    (1) People who understand the Quran, got the title”Atheist”
(2)People who memorized the Quran they are good(pakka) Muslims,
    (3) People who know nothing about religion– they call for Jihad and die for Islam.
Now I care about USA since I live in here and my children growing up here.I like to be a defender of Sharia Law here in USA. You doing great job in Canada, but we like you with us here too.

The information you spread is definitely an eye opener. I was born and raised as a hindu and I must say that I am impressed by your impartial and transparent speeches especially the ones that are inclined to muslims in India.

I am a trainee mathematician but I am also interested in geopolitics. Currently, I live in Toronto and it would be a privilege and an honour to meet you some day. Lastly, I will again pray for your well being and safety. You are a gem and India should accept your application for its citizenship. We will be proud to have you as a new citizen of India.

Do you know Dr Rushdi Cader? Can you interview him as a feature on extremist islamists, anti-semites who attack progressive Muslims?

Are you aware that Rusdhi Cader blogged as Dr Maxtor, and opposes such things as gay marriage, muslim women marrying outside their faith, and modernising Islam? He claims as such as DrM but as Dr Rushdi Cader he sucks up to Zionists. He is a hypocrite and there are many like him in the West. They want secularism themselves, but oppose it for Muslims in Muslim countries and attack people like you who want all Muslims to enjoy the same rights that DrMaxtor chooses to live under. He fixates on secular Muslims and Zionists yet he does not give a damn about Sri Lanken women who are abused as maids in the Gulf and Saudi Arabia. Dr Rushdi Cader is a Sri Lankan Muslim. He raises funds from Zionists to take to Sri Lanka in real life.
