Do ordinary Muslims share the views of Radical Shaikhs on Stoning to Death and the Killing of Gays?

Excerpts from a 2013 Islamic Conference in Norway

Here is a Norwegian Islamist group Islam.Net describing Islam and its followers. Read and reflect on what is happening among Muslims who live in the West and wish to bring Sharia laws to these lands.

It’s not the “Radical Shaykh,” it’s Islam itself

When Muslim organizations invite Shaykhs who speak openly about the values of Islam, the Islamophobic western media starts murdering the character of that organization and the invited speaker.

The question these Islamophobic journalists need to reflect upon is; are these so called ”radical” views that they criticize endorsed only by these few individuals being invited around the globe, or does the common Muslims believe in them. If the common Muslims believe in these values that means that more or less all Muslims are radical and that Islam is a radical religion.

Since this is not the case, as Islam is a peaceful religion and so are the masses of common Muslims, these Shaykhs cannot be radical. Rather it is Islamophobia from the ignorant western media who is more concerned about making money by alienating Islam by presenting Muslims in this way.

Islam Net, an organization in Norway, invited nine speakers to Peace Conference Scandinavia 2013. These speakers would most likely be labelled as ”extremists” if the media were to write about the conference.

But how come this conference was the largest Islamic Scandinavian International event that has taken place in Norway with about 4,000 people attending? Were the majority of those who attended in opposition to what the speakers were preaching?

If so, how come they paid to enter? Let’s forget about that for a moment, let’s imagine that we don’t really knew what all these people thought about, for example segregation of men and women, or stoning to death of those who commit adultery.

The Chairman of Islam Net, Fahad Ullah Qureshi asked the audience, and the answer was clear. The attendees were common Sunni Muslims. They did not consider themselves as radicals or extremists. They believed that segregation was the right thing to do, both men and women agreed upon this. They even supported stoning or whatever punishment Islam or prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) commanded for adultery or any other crime.

They even believed that these practises should be implemented around the world. Now what does that tell us? Either all Muslims and Islam is radical, or the media is Islamophobic and racist in their presentation of Islam. Islam is not radical, nor is Muslims in general radical. That means that the media is the reason for the hatred against Muslims, which is spreading among the non-Muslims in western countries.

    The video is very interesting.

However, there is a serious flaw in the way the gentleman raised the question to the audience: How many of you would agree that punishment described in Quran and Sunnah, whether it is death or stoning for adultery or whatever it is, would you agree that if it is from Allah and His Messenger that is the best punishment possible for humankind and who agrees with that?

This question is very misleading at the first place, manifesting “radical” indoctrination and mentality, and following are the reasons.

1)When the radicals use the word “Sunnah” they mostly mean Hadith only, and we all know that (non-divine) hadith is not equal to divine Quran. But the real Sunnah of Prophet is not 100% the same thing as Hadith, because his Sunnah actually represents 100% of Quranic principles, having no conflict with Quran in any way, nor the real Sunnah adds any new principle that is not already there in Quran.

    2) There is no verse in Quran that describe any punishment which is not followed soon by another verse that says very clearly that if the sinner repents, then desist giving any punishment, since only Allah knows what is in the hearts of people. Readers must read Quran and should check themselves so that they become well informed about the truth about all punishments in Quran and not assume what they hear is true.

    3) There are many Hadith with all kinds of pre-Islamic punishments that (in conflict with Quran) only talk about punishments and ignore the verses of Quran that takes into consideration the “repentance” when expressed by the sinners.

    4) It is unfair to say “according to Allah and Messenger” and provide only an incomplete translation and then ask the audience to agree or disagree. Of course, everyone sitting there are Muslims and are not expected to say “No” to what the gentleman is assigning as the words coming from Allah and His Messenger, when in reality they are only the words coming from an ordinary Muslim who did not do his homework and decided yo only partially mention what the Quan says. Only a radical Muslim witth pre-Islamic pagan beliefs would want to misinform the naive moderate Muslims.

Beheadings, stoning and separating women and men are not mentioned in Quran and are only part of the cultural values that were rampant in the pre-Islamic era as well as from Judeo-Christian traditions. Islam came to establish a civilized society based on taqwa and mercy – a peaceful way of life that is just the opposite of the pre-Islamic judeo-Christians-pagan society at that time. The Muslim radicals wants Muslims to follow only Pre-Islamic pagans’ religion + hadith and cleverly exclude Quranic principles, and the most crucial principle in Quran is “There is no compulsion in the Deen of Islam”.

    a) Audience are moderate Muslims, but unfortunately unaware of what actually Quran teaches.
    b) The moderator seems to express the pre-Islamic religious beliefs of pagans held by Muslim radicals and extremists.
    c) The non-Muslim critics of Muslims are not expected to know what Quran says and would believe what these backward Muslim radicals say about Islam.

    @ Jaseem Pasha

“c) The non-Muslim critics of Muslims are not expected to know what Quran says and would believe what these backward Muslim radicals say about Islam.”

I’ll tell you what, Jaseem: I am gay and I’m getting mighty tired and angry about numerous Islamic preachers – be they ‘moderate’, ‘extremist’, or whatever – openly and smirkingly preaching that I shold be killed – and both Muslims and western ‘liberals’ and western states doing nothing to stop them. In fact I’m furious. and i’m alos not in the least bit interested in entering a theological debate or being told I don’t know enough about a religion, so many of whose preachers keep incitng my murder.

Can you and other Muslims understand why?

Lots of people share your distress and I am angry too when I see these arrogant misogynist nincompoops present themselves as ‘holier than thou’, spreading their homophobic bigotry and violence, sitting in the West in the cozy environment of democracy, free speech, and freedom of religion, but lacking the guts to use their moral values to fight for respect for human dignity and the human rights, especially for the women, children, minorities in their own Muslim countries they come from.

Yes, I understand your exasperation and I know many Muslims who also do. I am sure you must be aware of the fact that like many levelheaded Christians who took a mature stand and stood up to the hateful homophobia and bigotry spread by the Zionist-Christians and some of the TV evangelists – the Christian talibans of the West, more and more Muslims are realizing that their faith has been hijacked by these wild ferocious schmucks and are taking a bold stand in their communities.

The issue is political turned into religious by the renegade politicians in the Muslim and the Western world, where the West while spending 100s of billions of dollars to win war against terrorism on one side, and then supporting Saudi Arabia, the biggest exporter of radical salafi Islam, and funding various Islamic centers in the West to promote their misogynist and homophobic brand of Political slam.

It is not the time to lose hope. USA is a very resilient nation and has tremendous capacity to prevail. Humanism will ultimately win over these backward fanatic wild scrupulous groups of Islamist dorks and the neocons.
