Partition of India and the forgotten question of Baluchistan – TEDxTalk by Tarek Fatah

In April 2015, I was invited by the students of India’s Rajiv Gandhi National Law University to speak at their TEDxTalk event known as TEDxRGNUL. Here is what I said to the young brilliant future lawyers of India.

While India is known to have taken birth in 1947 as a modern state, the civilisational ethos of India has survived for ages.

In this talk that was given at a TEDx event at the Rajiv Gandhi Law University in the city of Patiala in Punjab, India in March 2015, I proposed the need to develop a grand narrative of the Indian civilisation that extends beyond the geographical boundaries of the Indian Territory.

Cut off from my India is the forgotten war and the horror of the continuing conflict in Balochistan. In my chat I urged the students who hosted the TEDxRGNUL event to step forward and support the cause of Baloch nationalists and to help liberate Balochistan from the occupation of Pakistan.

Tarek Fatah keeps quoting the figure of 3 million Bengalis killed by Pak army in 1971. The figure was very first time quoted by a Bangladeshi minister who mistook million to mean a hundred thousand (lakh). The wrong figure has since stuck. But for a luminary like Tarek Fatah, it is quite unbecoming to keep repeating the wrong figure. A recent scholarly work has scaled he number further down to a hundred thousand or even less, but that can be a matter for separate debate. I am no friend of Pakistan Army and hate them as much as TF does and whatever the actual figure, fifty thousand or a hundred thousand,, it was a genocide and the perpetrators deserved a trial for war crimes., But for the sake of truth and integrity, TF should quote the right figure and not 3 million.

His talk was repulsive full of Ignorance and self hatred, Yes, I am talking about TF as I know him personally lately he is being drinking his own, plus taking shower with cows urine further establishing his real Hindu ancestry, obviously flies do gather around filth and I and the Pakistani are fully equipped and have all kind of insecticide and ready to spray without delay.

What’s going in india will definitely leads to another partition.

There cannot be another partition. India is too powerful and too well knit to buckle under any pressure.
However, there may be a mass migration from India to Pakistan or vice versa when the latter fails as a State.

Muslims of india are proud of the deeds of muslim invaders in last 1000 years and not ashamed then how can we hope to live together in peace.

I am not sure where you get that impression.
It is not the majority but a good number who are fed on the diet of Whabism, Arabic superiority etc etc.
This is also the failure of Indian education. If you have not been able to assimilate Muslims into the mainstream and kept them apart by separate Muslim Personal Laws, obvious discrimination in defense areas, civil service, etc then who is to blame.
India has also produced great sons of soil like APJ Kalam who was a devout muslim.

If same thing is spoken by some RSS leader he has been chewed out by our politically correct media mugals and pseudo secular politicians. Went to visit a friend in Toronto who lives their for long time and RSS member from birth. In his home I saw a map of Cultural India which includes all territories from Afghanistan to Arunachal and from Kathmandu to Kanya Kumari! I ask him why such map, he said in Sangh we believe in cultural India!

I told him that he is lucky that not living in India otherwise all these politically correct pseudo secular thugs with help from corrupt media would have put him at rest.

The cultural map of India rather Bharat extending from Afghanistan to Burma is about the civilisation predominantly Hindu or Buddhist. There is no place for ISLAM.

Pakistan is an artificial creation done for the Great Game (read the book by Narinder Singh Sarila “The Shadow of the Great Game: untold truth about India’s partition”.
IT will go the way most artificial creations like Soviet Union, Yugoslavia. Prussia etc went.
When that happens, India can gather in her folds the pearls she lost in 1947.

I am not sure if any Indian blames Gandhiji for partition of India. Only a stupid idiot who does not read books will.
Gandhiji opposed partition as nobody else did. His was the lone voice in wilderness in those tragic times preceding partition.
I feel frustrated at this speaker who keeps repeating this nonsense.
No educated Indian blames Gandhiji for partition.
Jinnah is the villain but he too was a puppet in the great game.

Sir,you seem to find it so easy to blame jinnah for the Partition in 1947 but conveniently leave Nehru out of it,why quickly brand Jinnah as villain and shy away calling Nehru a villain, otherwise regard them both as puppets in the greater Brit. game and disagree considering Nehru a gr8 statesman to get an unbiased perspective. Gandhi sure was against the partition and can’t be blamed for it ,but he certainly did not make things any easier for India’s polity in fact ended up creating more problems than solutions, short cummings that ‘India’ as a country is paying for till date. Gandhi was a great man a great leader of the masses a true great saintly soul who should have certainly stayed away from the politics of that time

      Dear Mr. Sridhar,

      It’s just a common sense.
Mr.Gandhi who starts fasting for even trivial giving money to PAKiSTAN, to free some X or Y from Jail ..etc. never had a fasting to avoid a cut on his own motherland!!.

This guy finally agreed and allowed ALL the fanatics and bigots to decide poor 1 million INDIAN’s fate in the streets after partition!!.
      How can that be ignored??
Mr.GANDHI played his crucial role as well in this great game/drama.
He is NOT a saint. He also was an astute politician.

Well, unfortunately he got the right logical end!.
Anyone who cuts his mother’s breasts is bound to be killed..
By means of Bullet or by stone was the only question.
      Mr.Nathuram Godse chose Bullet.. that’s it. P E R I O D.
